Last Sunday, I had the privilege of celebrating International Yoga Day surrounded by a beautiful community of students and guided by one of my first yoga teachers. During class, we reflected on one simple question: What does yoga mean to you?
As I've reflected over the past week, I realised just how much this practice has shaped my own life.
Yoga has never been about touching my toes. It's been about finding my way back to myself.
I first stepped onto a yoga mat in my early 20s at a local gym, never imagining how profoundly it would change my life. What began as movement became a journey of healing, growth, self-discovery, and connection.
After completing my Yoga Teacher Training in 2019, I continue to learn every day. I feel incredibly humbled to now share these teachings while remaining a lifelong student.
Through seasons of loss, burnout, uncertainty, grief, and change, yoga has been my anchor. It has taught me how to breathe, soften, trust, and come home to myself again and again.
Last Sunday reminded me of the incredible lineage of yoga and all the teachers, mentors, and students who have shaped my journey. I'll always remember those golden nuggets of wisdom shared at exactly the right moment — the lessons that quietly changed my life.
It is my deepest hope that through a class, a breath, a meditation, or simply a moment of stillness, I've been able to pass on even one of those golden nuggets to someone else.
I found myself with tears in my eyes that day — not from sadness, but from gratitude. Gratitude for this practice, for my teachers, and for this incredible community. Watching your growth, courage, and transformation truly warms my heart.
"Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self."
— Bhagavad GitaThank you for being part of this journey. I have been inviting students to sit with this question all week — and I would love to hear from you.
